A mathematical model for the energy stored in green roofs

چکیده

• We develop a simple mathematical model to estimate the energy stored in green roof and provide analytical solutions. The effect of different key parameters on both surface temperature is discussed. A typical significantly cooler stores less than concrete even with high albedo coating. Evaporation few millimeters per day leads threefold reduction compared roofs. developed. Analytical solutions are derived corresponding extensive (shallow) intensive (deep) substrates. Results presented for roofs during day. Within restrictions assumptions solution demonstrates that vary linearly fractional leaf coverage, irradiance, while evaporation rate convective heat transfer non-linear. It shown one when has millimetres from soil layer can reduce by factor more three an equivalent thickness roof.

Green Roofs in the Tropics Conserve Energy

Background: Concrete buildings on Guam are exceptionally strong but also accumulate large amounts of heat. In the tropical environment of Guam, where 24 h average temperature ranges from 28 to 29oC year round, air conditioning is used every day and continuously. Concrete roofs are often painted light colors, which make them more reflective and accumulate less heat. They are also suitable for es...

Hydroponics Roofs for Saving Energy of Green Schools in the Cold and Dry climate of Iran: A Comparative Study between Two Broad and Modular Hydroponic Green Roofs

Green schools are a new type of school, in which the use of renewable energy is less than that of conventional schools. In this regard, nowadays, adding green layers to the roof of schools, in addition to increasing the Students' communication with nature, energy saving has improved in these spaces. However, to improve energy saving yield, the priority of these types of roofs in different clima...

A Novel Two-Stage Mathematical Model for Green Supplier Development

Nowadays, numerous processes of any supply chain are done by suppliers and consequently they cause a massive amount of pollution released to the nature. Hence, greening the suppliers has become a necessity. Although most of green supplier development programs need high investment, formal optimization models that address this issue are very rare. This paper mainly aims to address this prob...

Energy savings in buildings or UHI mitigation? Comparison between green roofs and cool roofs

The intensification of the Urban Heat Island effect (UHI) is a problem that involves several fields, and new adequate solutions are required to mitigate its amplitude. The construction sector is strictly related with this phenomenon; in particular, roofs are the envelope components subject to the highest solar irradiance, hence any mitigation strategy should start from them and involve their ap...
